A Simple Gift Guide for Girls

A very popular question has been, “what in the world do you get your kids while living out of suitcases?” Haha, great question! It’s true we have had to down size big time, but I absolutely love love love Christmas so I’m so excited to share with what kind of gifts we like to do for our kiddos. The last couple years our family has tried to focus more on creating experiences, meaningful gifts, and travel while moving away from acquiring more THINGS! I’m new to buying for little boys, but I’ve got the girl thing down so here are a few ideas to keep it simple.

——

Experience

I have to put this one first because it is always what we focus on most. Because it’s usually just a piece of paper, we try to make it fun by hiding it somewhere in the house. After our kiddos open their presents they get to go on a hunt for the envelope with an “experience” inside. This can be a trip somewhere, whether it’s on a plane or down the street to the Zoo, Aquarium, or Amusement Park. Or maybe it’s lessons of some kind like skiing, horseback riding, or even piano. Whatever it is, it’s something that will mean something to them and usually done together. We have learned these pieces of paper because the most memorable. :)

KiwiCo Crates

I talk about these crates often. :) It’s a monthly subscription for all ages, and each month comes a new activity crate. Everything you need is inside, and each one is follows STEAM. Such a great gift idea that encourages learning and creativity! You can get 50% off your first month using code TRIPP at checkout.

Necklace

This can be such a meaningful gift that little kids treasure. Something from mom and dad specially made for them. Maybe a necklace of their name or my favorites are necklaces you can customize from Made by Mary.

Parent/child connection journal

By far the most special gift I’ve given my older girls. Something that becomes so special as the parent and child answer prompts and write to each other. Promptly Journals was so kind to give me a discount code SHANNON15 for you to use at checkout.

Mini Fawn bags

A darling practical gift that can also be used for traveling. Make it extra special by adding a little tassel or Pom Pom to it. My kids have used these bags more than any other gift I have given them, ever! You just can’t go wrong with a cute new bag like this that cleans so well, and lasts forever!

Camera

My favorite for kids is this Fujifilm instax mini that helps capture little memories no matter where you are or where you go! You have something to remember it. :)

Cozy Blanket

There’s nothing like a cozy blanket to wrap around you and make everything feel okay. This is especially cherished if you move across the ocean with your kiddos. :) There is something about taking something like this from home to comfort you when you are away. My two favorites are from Saranoni and Minky Couture.

A New Book

A new book is easy to store, easy to pack, and oh so good for the child. “The more that you read, the more things you will know, the more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” Every year my kids get a new book to add to their collection. Ps. I loooove this book!

Insulated Water bottle

Who doesn’t love and need a new water bottle? This can be especially fun by putting their name on it. Again, good to have at home and so helpful to travel with…and you all know how I feel about kiddos drinking enough water!!

Fun Toy

In our house Santa brings a few fun little toys that are on the girls Christmas list, but we like to add in one on our end and this has been a crowd favorite. No matter what age the kiddo is, they love this microphone!

Have a safe a happy holiday season!
